When do I need onlays?
- We will recommend porcelain onlays in case of fractured, broken, or severely damaged teeth.
- You may need to opt for this procedure if your large filling is repeatedly falling off or getting displaced and not fulfilling the purpose.
- We also perform this procedure in combination with other treatments to improve the appearance of your smile.
How is the procedure performed?
The entire procedure requires two dental visits. We will examine and take an impression of your teeth during your first appointment to create your customized porcelain onlays in the dental lab.
If your teeth already have an old filling, we will remove the material. If your teeth are decayed or damaged, we will numb the area to remove the decay so that you won’t feel pain or discomfort. We will shape your teeth to fit the restoration properly. We may also use a temporary filling to protect your teeth until your second appointment takes place.
We will remove the temporary filling during your second visit and place the new porcelain onlay. We will cement it into place. At every step, we will ensure that the application is comfortable. We will also check your bite and make adjustments as required.
What are the advantages of onlays?
